The Hamamatsu/Queen’s PET (Positron Emission Tomography) Imaging Center LLC is a joint venture between Hamamatsu Photonics of Japan (a leading manufacturer of high end electronic components and medical equipment) and the Queen’s Medical Center (Hawaii’s largest health care provider). Started in 1997, the Center was created to build, operate, manage, and maintain a state of the art PET imaging center located at the Queen’s Medical Center.

The Hamamatsu/Queen’s PET Imaging Center is the only hospital based PET facility in the State of Hawai’i. The PET Center includes 4 rooms; a control room for monitoring, scheduling, and support services, a patient waiting room where IV is administered, a room where the PET scans are performed, and a 4th room which can house a second PET scanner for future expansion.

Queen’s has the largest and most active nuclear medicine department in Hawai’i combining both clinical nuclear medicine and research interests.
