Learning Objectives:
- Describe the four (4) types of cardiac stress testing for pre-surgical evaluation and their differentiating indications and interpretations.
- Discuss new clinical evidence supporting improved outcomes in weight-related co-morbidities post-bariatric surgery.
- Recognize the special vitamin and medication needs of the post-bariatric patient.
- Describe the increased risks of developing gout and kidney stones due to obesity/morbid obesity; discuss the contributing role obesity/morbid obesity plays in the incidence of prostate cancer, stone development and impotence.
- Utilize appropriate diagnostic criteria in the treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in women with obesity/morbid obesity; refer as appropriate.
- Apply effective contraceptive options to improve clinical management of the obese/morbidly obese woman.
- Discuss clinical considerations and recommendations for pregnancy after bariatric surgery.
