The Anesthesia Preoperative Evaluation Center (APEC) is part of the Queen’s Medical Center Surgical Services Division. APEC is staffed by a highly qualified team which consists of Advanced Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, office support staff and a Medical Director.

Our Goal is to help identify significant health issues prior to receiving anesthesia for the purpose of meeting patient’s individual care needs.

If you are scheduled to have surgery at The Queen's Medical Center, one of APEC’s nurses will call you and review your health history over the phone to identify any risk factors. Some patients may be asked to come to APEC for further evaluation.

APEC works directly with your Surgeon and your Anesthesiologist to coordinate any laboratory tests, EKGs, and/or chest x-rays needed for your surgery. We ensure that our patient's medical condition is optimal prior to encountering the stress of anesthesia and surgery.
