Our Approach
The Pain and Palliative Care Department is committed to relieving pain and suffering and improving the quality of life for patients with serious illness. As an interdisciplinary team, we promote quality care by increasing patient comfort, facilitating decision-making and providing an extra layer of support for patients and their families.

Pain Management
Our team of physicians and advanced practice nurses uses its exceptional range of skills, training, and experience to develop individualized treatment plans to manage acute post-operative, post-traumatic and cancer related pain for patients hospitalized at The Queen’s Medical Center.

Palliative Care
The goal of palliative care is to relieve suffering and provide the best possible quality of life for people experiencing symptoms, pain or stresses from a serious illness. As a team, we work collaboratively to support the care plan of primary care physicians and specialists and to facilitate the implementation of treatment and therapy aligned with the patients’ values and goals of care.
