Kinau Off-ramp Project

Kinau Off-ramp ProjectThe state Department of Transportation is curently constructing a new right-turn lane on the H-1 Kinau Street off-ramp to access Lusitana Street. This improvement was designed to ease the flow of traffic in the Ward Avenue area and offer emergency vehicles an alternative route to The Queen’s Medical Center.

The project will include removing portions of existing roadway pavement, wall, curb, gutter, drainage system, lighting system, and guardrails; widening existing roadway pavement, installing new curb, gutter, drainage system, lighting system, guardrails, signing, pavement markings; relocation of existing water line; cold planing and resurfacing.

The Kinau Street Off-Ramp Project's almost done. As part of the project—to ensure pedestrian and motorists' safety—traffic improvement work, which includes the installation of the street lights, new signage and pavement markings and curbing Kinau/Alapai/Lusitana/Lunalilo Intersection, is currently being done. This is the last part of the project.
As part of the traffic improvement work, there will be lane closures in the vicinity of the intersection of Kinau, Alapai, Lunalilo, Lusitana Streets between 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Police officers will be on site during the lane closure hours for safety and direction. Motorists are highly advised to obey their directions and all other traffic control devices. Motorists are also advised to please use caution and allow ample time when approaching the area.

The new right-turn lane will be closed until all work is completed at the Kinau Street Off-Ramp for the safety of pedestrians, motorists and area residents.
