Services and Amenities

Reading MaterialsEquipment for the Hearing and Speech Impaired
Queen's can help you obtain equipment for the hearing and speech-impaired, such as Text Telephones (TTY), amplified and speaker telephones and closed captioned devices. For more information, contact The Queen's Patient Relations department, or call The Queen's Medical Center TTY at 808.547.4737.

Foreign Language and Sign Language Interpreters
Interpreters for patients are available in many foreign languages as well as in American sign language. If you are helping a family member or friend plan a hospital stay and would like to arrange for an interpreter in advance, Queen's Patient Relations department will be glad to help you.

Guided Imagery
Guided Imagery uses your imagination to help you relax and decrease pain. If you wish, someone who is trained in this relaxation method can help you to find the imagery that works best for you. Sessions are run by volunteers and are free of charge.

Healing Touch
Healing Touch is an energy-based, hands on treatment approach. It can affect physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Healing Touch often reduces pain and helps you relax. Free sessions are given by request by volunteers.

Mail Service
Queen's volunteers can help you to write letters and mail them. Stamps may be purchased at the Gift Shop in Queen's main lobby. Volunteers will also deliver any incoming mail from your friends. Mail which arrives at The Queen's Medical Center after you leave will be forwarded to your home.

Newspapers
Morning and evening newspapers may be purchased from newsstands in Queen's main lobby. If you need help in buying a paper, Queen's volunteers can deliver a copy to your room.

Reading Materials
Queen's volunteers can bring a bookcart to your bedside at your request so you may select a book or magazine to read. If a volunteer is available, reading service may also be provided.

Safe Deposit Box
We encourage you to leave jewelry, money or other valuables at home or send them home with your family when you check in. If this is not possible, a hospital safe deposit box is available in Patient Financial Services. Your valuables will not be released to family or friends without your written consent and proof of identity. The Queen's Medical Center is not responsible for any loss of money or valuables from your room.
