The state Department of Transportation is curently constructing a new right-turn lane on the H-1 Kinau Street off-ramp to access Lusitana Street. This improvement was designed to ease the flow of traffic in the Ward Avenue area and offer emergency vehicles an alternative route to The Queen’s Medical Center.
The project will include removing portions of existing roadway pavement, wall, curb, gutter, drainage system, lighting system, and guardrails; widening existing roadway pavement, installing new curb, gutter, drainage system, lighting system, guardrails, signing, pavement markings; relocation of existing water line; cold planing and resurfacing.

Left lane closure on the H-1 Freeway (eastbound) Kinau Street Off-Ramp (Exit 22) on the on Monday, April 26, through Friday, April 30, from 8:30am to 3:00pm, daily, for off-ramp widening activities. The right off-ramp lane will still be open to traffic. Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work area and to allow for extra travel time. This work is part of a long-range project to construct a new right-turn lane on the Kinau Street Off-Ramp to access Lusitana Street.
