Is it the Queen's Heart Center, or the Ritz Carlton? In either place, your concerns are already anticipated and taken care of as if the staff had read your mind. That's the vision of the new Queen's Heart Center--formerly known as the Heart Institute--set for a March grand opening. The Heart Center's opening will coincide with the launch of another brand new health and educational program at The Queen's Medical Center specifically for women--Women's Heart Advantage.

The new Queen's Heart Center is designed to be a collaboration between The Queen's Medical Center, doctors, patients, clinical staff and the community. Because cardiovascular disease is preventable, the Heart Center will team up with other health organizations to educate the public on the risk factors of heart disease and help prevent it before it happens.

Short of prevention, the Queen's Heart Center will be a one-stop shop to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. That's where the comparison with the Ritz Carlton comes in-if a person can make it to a single reception desk at the Queen's Heart Center, it will be the equivalent of being at the concierge desk at the Ritz. The major features of the Heart Center include:
*Centralized registration for patients.
*The latest technology in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
*A wellness and rehabilitation program with the twofold purpose of preventing heart disease and bringing people back to health after an acute event.
*Plans for satellite diagnostic centers at various locations on O’ahu and the Neighbor Islands.
*A dynamic perspective which can incorporate evolving technological advances to meet changing patient needs.

The Queen's Heart Center will go beyond the physical to create a place where people come to be healed, not just to have a medical procedure. The Queen's Heart Center is nothing short of a place where Queen Emma's vision of caring for the community is not only alive and well, but lived and taught.
